The Intel Challenge

“Develop a gateway application that will run on the Intel Edison board”

Your challenge is to create an application that will run on the Intel Edison board. The gateway will receive data from the various sensors that can be connected to it and the application can manage the operation of those sensors, collect analytics and report key data back up to the cloud.

An example of a gateway application for a refrigerated truck can be seen at this website.

MediaTek Labs Challenge

“How smart can you make your home using MediaTek LinkIt™ Smart 7688?”

The MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688 development platform is the latest addition to the MediaTek LinkIt portfolio. This new platform offers a variety of program language options like C, node.js and python as well as the use of a Linux operating system. The platform enables rapid development of advanced Wi-Fi based devices such as IP cameras, surveillance devices, smart appliances and Wi-Fi gateways that make use of cloud services. The platform offers two HDK versions with the main difference being Arduino compatibility. For our hackathon  we will be using the LinkIt Smart 7688 Duo which is Arduino compatible.

Use Python or node.js to create a web interface in order to control servos, sensors, relays or whatever you can think of with our SDK for C or Arduino – with these capabilities there really are no barriers to the devices you could create to enrich lifestyle and entertainment experiences and make utility usage in the home truly smart.
